WWI: Mementos of our Grandfathers

To mark the centenary years of WWI I collected stories of people & their grandfathers and the artefacts they were holding from WWI.

I never knew either of my grandfathers, John Mitchell or Harold Wyndham Lilja.  They both served in WWI and again in WWII.  To honour their memory I worked on a photo essay in 2017 to mark the centenary years of the Great War.
I collected portraits of descendants of WWI veterans with the mementos of their grandfather's service.

As Harold landed in England on 29 January 1917 enroute to the Western Front, I started an online exhibition of this work for one year by posting one photograph each week on Facebook and Instagram, together with a weekly blog.    Check out the blog link on my home page or follow on Instagram @bezzucio.52 and my Facebook page.
